What’s your makeup story?
My sister challenged me to do this.
1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I did wear a tiny bit of makeup now and then during secondary school, then a bit more on collage, but mostly just mascara for every day use, and some eyeshadow added to that for party wear. I still don’t bother wearing much makeup on a day to day basis, but like to experiment more and try out stuff when I first put on makeup nowadays.
2. How did you get into makeup?
I think it’s just a part of growing up really, and becoming more of a girly girl. The notion of transforming yourself into something more interesting might be a factor here. It wasn’t a special happening making me go all fussed about makeup, it’s just being a girl I reckon.
3. What are some of your favorite brands?
I’m no expert in any brands really, nor have I tried that many different ones over a period of time in order to call them favorites. Though I quite like mac, think their makeup is good quality for not the worst price.
4. What does makeup mean to you?
Like I mentioned earlier; The notion of transforming yourself into something more interesting as well as covering over any flaws, it is nice to feel more attractive now and then, and even a bit more confident.
5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
That would be my foundation, right now I am using mac’s mineralize satinfinish SPF 15 foundation, and is quite happy with that one. I would also have my mascara, as it helps making me look less tired, I only wear one type of mascara as I am very pleased with that one, but can’t for the love of me remember what it’s called now or the make. Lip balm is essential as I would DIE without it. For a forth thing, I’d say my concealer, also from mac, not really that big deal, but I couldn’t think of anything else I would have to have.
6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
It makes your prettiness shine through, and it’s fun because you got so many options what to do with it.
7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
I don’t really seem to see much different on certain high end makeup vs. drugstore makeup. This could be from the lack of experience, but I do believe you can get certain stuff just as good from the drugstore as in some fashion store such as Selfridges or beatties.
8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Just try out different stuff, see for yourself what works for you and give products time so you get to know them and know how to best work them for an ultimate result. Also remember to wash your brushes!
9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
I think for this one I would have to answer the same as my sister; the “fjortis-look bimbo”, i.e. dark foundation (this is a horrible alternative to a tan), clumpy eyelashes and baby pink lips. I’m sorry, it’s just so 2000, and it wasn’t pretty then, and it sure isn’t pretty now.
10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
It’s good, there is some really talented people out there, so getting some inspiration from Youtube is nothing but a good thing. Obviously there are people who should not upload makeup tutorials who does, but if you find the best ones, you’d be amazed what makeup can do. I have myself a few favorites, such as MichellePhan and Panacea81, also check out the video underneath, it’s sick! (In a good way)
Now I am suppose to tag others to do this, but I’ll just say if you want to, go for it!
